This Mood board will express what my music magazine is clearly about,i choose specific images to fit the right type of audience my magazine is aimed at, im looking fo a audience who is out of the ordnary and dosen't stick to one type of music but changes their style of music.

Content Analysis

·         This content page consists of mostly photographs scattered on the right hand side of the page. I believe that the writing and the pictures are more dominate in this picture.                                                                                 

·         This page is structured with a modern masthead, and with the writing on the left and scattered pictures on the right.          

·         The relationship between the pictures and text is 50/50 because they both dominate and large amount of space between them. 

·         The articles are organized in two articles one part is telling us what’s going to be inside the magazine and the second part is on reviews.   The article starts on page 7 and ends at page 161.

• Where as this content page consists of a large photograph which dominates the whole page and is the main focus in the article.
• This content page structure is a large picture on the left hand side and medium writing on the right hand side and two small quotes on the top left and the bottom left.
• The relationship between the picture and the text is that the picture is allot more dominate this could show that the main focus on the article is about the person portrayed in this picture and the writing shows less importance as its in a medium font, the image takes up at least 80% of the page and the writing 20%.

Profiling The Target Audience

Olivia, 19, She puts in her headphones and isolates the world, everything she does somehow has to include music.Shes not in education no more but has finished her A levels shes currently a DJ and performs in many clubs but one day hopes to be a successful female DJ and to maybe have her own clothing line.Her I Pod just comes to show that she really isn't interested in one genre of music but all of them which cover Classic, Slow Jams,Rap,Rock etc. In her spare time she teaches different types of dance such a tap,street, and ballet she does this to express her emotions towards music. The way she dresses isn't smart and casual but adds colour to everything she wears she mostly shops on line to get away from the ordinary, that's how she likes to express her uniqueness,she has three piercings,four tattoos mostly always wears RayBan's.

My product is going to be involved in the target audiences music life by including different genres of music, its going to be a mixture of rap/hip hop and rock. The cover lines and contents and going to show the range and variety of music that's going into the magazine. I will also try to take a photograph of a person who is wearing a certain style of clothing and positioning in a certain way to lure in my target audience.

• The page consists of one large paragraph which is dominated by the photograph.
• The page is structured where the title is at the very top of the page in a large font and most of the photograph is on the right side, and on the left side is a columns of text, and at right hand side on the bottom there is a small quote.

Textual Analyzsis

 Denotation:This magazine is made up of a fully coloured photograph of a very successful well-known rapper Eminem, the photograph is not covering alot of the front cover just mostly the middle.The man is in an upright position where his head is facing upwards with his mouth wide open and has no eye contact with the camera. The photograph is a medium shot were his legs are not shown. i believe that the magazine has three main focuses the masthead, the photograph and the main cover line. The masterhead of NME is on the left hand side of the front cover and on both sides are cover lines.Also there is a very large heading where its stating the name of the artist which is making headlines. There is also a bar code at the bottom right hand side.Also the magazine is made up of a red,white and black colour scheme which has deliberately been done to express the mood and tone of the magazine and gives the audience a head start in knowing whats exact in the magazine.


Masthead: The masthead of the magazine 'NME' is very large and bold which makes it one the main focuses on the front cover.The font colour used is pale white which although isn't the best colour, the colour it self is very eye catching when contrasted with a black background  and very simple but powerful it has allot of meanings to it which makes it attractive also the way in which the colour got changed to white from red with and white outline just comes to show that this magazine itself is exclusive .The name for the magazine 'NME' first started as a newspaper in London and then in the 1980s changed into a international music magazine.The name itself means 'New Musical Express'  which straight away shows the audience its musical based and that everything to do with the magazine is new and exclusive.

Character: The artist shown is Emenim and international rapper, which is mostly famous for the fact that hes the first ever white successful rapper.

Composition: Emenim is in an up right position with his hand on his sides holding a microphone.hes head is tilted upwards and has no eye contact with the camera, also hes mouth is wide open to show that hes shocked about something, or it could mean that his fans or others might be the ones who are shocked about what has happened. And also it could mean that the image is contrasting the the main cover line in the front cover.
Costume: Hes costume consists of a normal and casual wear, which includes a hoodie, cap, chain, and combats this is all something a typical rapper would wear, this might just show that emenim is just like us and not different just because hes famous.

NVC: The posture from the neck to below shows being laid back and relaxed, but hes head posture shows him shocked and concerned. to the audience it tells us that something is happening something new.
Lighting: In the image there is very little lighting, the only lighting shown is off the whole image this might be done to make the picture stand out more than anything.
Setting:In the image theres isn't allot of setting, but to me it looks like hes on stage getting ready to sing because theres a spotlight on him and some lights from behind and also in the image hes holding a microphone which gives enough evidence to show hes on some sort of stage.

Coverlines:The cover lines in this magazine mostly consist of new artists in the UK.The main cover line is about Eminem which says 'From rehab to recovery to T Eminem the comeback that's stunned the world' This is the story where he surprisingly turned up at the T festival which everyone was shocked about because Emenim hasn't been producing music for years so hes come back shocked the world.

Target Audience: Though out everything, iam made to believe that the target audience is people who are into a mixture of music, the age i would put this magazine is 16 and over.

Textual Analyzsis


Denotation: This magazine consists of a coloured photograph of a well know successful singer Rihanna,The photograph is covering most of the magazines font cover. The woman is in a position of leaning but her face is facing the camera and she is also making eye contact with the camera. The photograph is a medium shot where only her upper body is showing.The photograph is the main focus in the picture but at the top of the magazine is the master head of 'Billboard' and along the left side is a list of the cover lines, Also there is a Really bold heading almost at the bottom stating the singers name 'Rihanna' there is also a bar code at the bottom left corner. I believe that the main colour theme on this magazine is mostly white which a touch of yellow and  red maybe to contrast the singers hair which is deliberately done so that the picture can stand out more.The background of the picture is not only colours but a scenery which by the looks of it seems to be roses although you cant really see allot of roses there is some on the right hand side which can also be used to contrast with her hair,

Master head: The master head in this font cover 'Billboard' is simple but very powerful because it just comes to show that although not very bold and not many colours used it can still be powerful, Also the master head it self is very unique in the way its been put in a medium font not to big and the only colour used is mostly white and a bit of yellow and red.The letters used in the master head are lowercase apart from the first letter.The words 'Billboard' is mostly used in the industry of music where it determines what singles make it to the top 40, another term for billboard will be billboards on highways or on the streets where its used to advertised anything, from food to musical artists.Both reasons might of been used to create a name for the magazine because have the same music definition.

Character: The photograph used in the magazine is of a well known, worldwide singer rihanna.

Composition: Rihanna is posed lying down and leaning exposing her side, and showing her face towards the camera, not much is showing but only her upper body, this might of been done deliberately to show off her face more than anything.
Costume: Her costume is not much but a crop top which shows some of her stomach and exposing on of her
and her tattoo of guns, i think that her hair wasn't really made to stand out but i think mostly her bright red hair.The costume worn in this photograph is also a costume she wears for her photo shoot for the 'Loud' Album also she wears exactly the same for her music video 'California King Bed.' Also the way her hair is put for example a part of her hair is covering her eye, might just mean that she trying to be mysterious which might be parreall for the coverline.

 NVC:Theres not much posture in the image but by her leaning into the ground and her face looking directly into the camera, and her red lips slightly open to give out a seductive vibe, maybe even to the target audience.
Lighting: There alot of light within all her body, the light is very luminoius to give it an eye catching effect also to potray that the magazine is about the artist on the front.the light behind is very faded, so you cant really see the background.
Setting: There is scenery in the picture alothough the background is faded, you can make out roses which might have been done on purpose to show some sort of meaning, For example roses are very ,mystrious and have alot of meaning, which might of been done delibratly to show that Rihanna is more than you think she is.

Cover lines: The cover lines on the front page consist of not only music but of TV and film as well. The main cover line in the whole of the  font cover is of Rihanna the artist who is very successful, It says 'The Re-REinvention  of Rihanna 'My fans dont know who i really am.' this could mean that shes wanting to show that shes more than what her fans think of her, also as Rihanna constantly changing her style, her fans were judging her and stating that she trying to be something shes not, but as the cover line says she wants to show to everyone that theres alot they dont know about her. The coverlines also include pitbull doing a take over on the magazine, also mentions different type of things from the tv. All the fonts used are serif fonts.

Target Audience: Looking at the magazine it just comes to show that  the target audience is adults probably 18 and over, and fans of big successful artists such as Rihanna, i think this because it shows little and a minimum of knowledge of something young people would want to read as its not fully made of gossip but about tv.

Textual analysis

Denotation: This magzine consists of a fully coloured photograph of a female singer, the image is covering most of the front cover.The woman is in a upright postiton but her arms are bent to her head and she is also making a very different facial expression, she is also making direct eye contact with the camera, the image is a medium camera shot were only her upper body is shown. The main focus on the front cover is the large photograph which tells us that magazine is going to be about her.At the top centre of the font cover is the 'Spin' masterhead and along the left and underneath is the main cover line and right hand side are all the coverlines to give a insight on what the magazine is going to be about. I think the main colour theme to the front cover is white and black which its done so that the covelines are still visable even though the picture was made to stand out and ment to be the main focus on the picture. The background is plain white this was delibratly done.


Masthead: The master head in this front cover of 'SPIN' is very plain and simple but its very iconic and eyecatching as the colour of the lettering is white and the block around it is red which makes it stand out even more and making it also blend well together. The main title itself 'Spin' generally means twisted, going around and around which could be metaphor for either the music being a different gene and that this magazine is about different types and musical geners in which its giving the insight of what they should expect in the magazine. Although the font of the magazine is very normal the name itself gives a twist to the whole magazine.

Character: The woman shown in this magazine is a female rapper M.I.A
Compostition: The way shes posed can be self explainary really because theres a medium shoot

Magazine analysis

Denotation:

On the magazine there is a colour photograph of a woman who is standing in a sort of slanted position, where her hands are over her head looking directly at the camera, the photograph of the woman is on basically the whole page. It’s a medium long shot where her full upper body is showing. Behind the women is the Vibe masthead, and along the sides are all the cover-lines.  But the main colour theme to the magazine is White and Red, which contrasts with the back ground which is dark blue and light blue which might symbolise good and bad and might make reference to the  cover line of the woman which says ‘Keri Hilson has been a very bad girl’.

Masthead:Vibe’s headline is very powerful and bold which really stands out to anyone and very eye catching and iconic. The font used is a serif font, the font is in bold and capital letters though out. The words 'Vibe' is a shorter term and a slang term for rhythm or any musical aspect which contrasts well with the whole theme of the magazine, and the name 'Vibe' tells the audience this magazine is urban music based.

Character:The main photograph of the magazine is of a American R&B recording artist Keri Hilson.


Composition:Keri is posed in a relaxed and chilled way but at the same time Keri is posed in a suggestive way, maybe to even match her suggestive policewoman outfit.


Costume: Her costume is a corset showing off her curves, and a police Hat. I think that this costume was chosen to go with the sidelines and to also appeal to the target audience of the magazine, which is mostly men.


NVC:Her whole body position is very seductive, and her mouth is open, and her hand is resting on her head and is looking directly at the camera.
Lighting: The lighting is more powerful on the photograph and and the rest is fading into the back
Setting: Theres is no setting in voled in this photograph only a mixture of light blue and dark blue which in my opinion can symbolise good and bad.


Cover-Lines:
The Boldest cover line, goes with the picture which says: 'Keri Hilson has been a very bad girl' this can refer to the photograph and the costume, also the way the background expresses the bold cover line by making it dark blue and light blue which represents good and bad.Another reason for implying that Keri is a bad girl is Keri Hilson's album No Boys Allowed, which can also refer to her costume and the way shes posed.Also the rest of the cover lines shows us that the magazine itself is urban as it mentions Keri Hilson, T.I, Tupac, and Jay-z which are all part of the hip hop and urban industry. All the cover lines use a sans serif front.This can tell the audience hot gossip about celebrities and music.


Target Audience:
Overall i believe that the target audience this is aimed at is people who are interested in music but i think mostly men then females, aged 16 and over because in my opinion i think that music shouldn't have a age limit.
 

Overview On My College Magazine

Strengths:

• During the time of doing my college magazine i think that, i done quite well in taking my photographs and using my photography skills to produce photos for my current magazine.
• Also i think that another of my strengths is knowing exactly what to do and doing it straight forward.
• Also i think that using my photoshop skills i think i produced a good enough magazine.

 Weaknesses:

• i think that one of my weaknesses is a lack of planning i think that if i planned it more i think i would of got a better outcome.
• Also i think i could of changed the colours ab it because it was suppose to be a unisex magazine but in my opinion i think that its mostly a men's magazine because of the colors used and also the typography uaed.  

What i could improve on with my music magazine:

• Next time i know i need to do more planning and further research in order for a better outcome.
• Also need to take more varieties of photos, in different angles and in different places in order for me to have a wider range of photos to look at.
• Also to take time on it,and to go with the brief more than just doing my own thing.
• Next time add more number of pages to my contents page.
• The masthead must be bigger to stand out more.
• The cover lines must not be touching the person on the image.
• Add more coverlines.

Introduction

Im Nicole Aulestia im 16, and im currently studing at Christ the king sixth form college. This blog is going to be Mostly based on all my AS Media Work.
